Out of School SELECT youth programs are available to youth that reside in all fourteen counties in the Delta Workforce Investment Area. Out of School SELECT youth (14-21) attend class twenty-eight hours per week until ready to participate in work experience. They may then work twenty hours per week and attend class twenty hours per week. Twenty-eight work readiness skills must be mastered to successfully complete the program. Great emphasis is placed upon GED preparation. The PLATO system is used to enhance the basic education skill curriculum. Quarterly community service projects are performed. Job shadowing and mentors are also included in the program activities. Guest speakers and field trips introduce participants to the world of work, higher education, the WIN Job Centers, and the arts.
