South Delta Planning & Development District Inc. serves as an affiliate office of the Department of Commerce, Economic Development Association and is dedicated to the betterment of the living conditions for its member units of government and the general citizenry. As a result, South Delta offers a unique perspective on the public-private partnership needed to create economic opportunities for all citizens in the six-county area. In order to provide such opportunities, South Delta Planning & Development District, in conjunction with other area economic development agencies, offers a multitude of financing alternatives for businesses and individuals.

Economic Development Administration Revolving Fund

South Delta Planning & Development District, Inc. administers a Revolving Loan Fund for economically distressed areas in its jurisdiction.

Loans will be made for projects that will:

 

  • Enhance the overall economic development of the project area
  • Be used as a part of a larger conventional loan package through traditional sources
  • Be used for direct loans to provide fixed assets or working capital

Minority Business Enterprise Loan Program

The Minority Business Enterprise Loan Program is a program of the Mississippi Development Authority designed to establish a revolving loan fund to assist in providing financing of minority economic development.  A minority business is defined in the Small Business Act and includes women who are economically disadvantaged.  Applicants must be certified through the Mississippi Development Authority before applying for the minority loan program.

Mississippi Small Business Assistance Program

The Mississippi Small Business Loan Program financed by the Mississippi Development Authority is designed to assist in small business financing.  Small Business Criteria:

 

For-profit commercial enterprise with fewer than 100 employees

Less than $2 million net worth,

Less than $350,000 net annual profit after tax during two of the last three years

Micro-Loan Program

The Micro-Loan Program  is designed to finance loans from $2,000 to $35,000, with terms of three to five years.

Micro-loan proceeds may be used for financing all project costs associated with creation or expansion of Minority Businesses, including  fixed assets, working capital, start-up costs, rental payments, interest expenses during construction and professional fees.
